TEENAGE FADS
" Hey there massi, I turned 13 today. I
am a teenager now” that’s how my cousin’s son hysterically spoke to me over the
phone when I called him to wish on his birthday.. I spoke to him for a while
gave him some pep talks as he had entered into a new phase of life.. Later
after hanging up I thought what was so special about being a teenager.
Its an age when you come out of your comfort zone and explore the world in your own possible way. But let me add some more to it, its also an age where you love bubblegums, texting,
facebook, coffee and rock music. It’s an age
where you feel you are old enough to feel truly an adult, to make decisions
that affect the rest of your life, also old enough to FALL IN LOVE, yet, at the
same time too young to be free to make a lot of those decisions without someone
else's approval (I would tag parents in this). Such a complicated yet the most joyful and cheerful days of
ones life. However stress, peer
pressure, negative thoughts, depressions, drugs, rash driving, broken hearts etc. add more complexity to an already confused teenager. Isn’t that true?
I proudly say that I have
successfully gone through this stage of life and cherish it the most.. Oops!!
Don’t get me wrong. I too had my own share of bad experiences, wrong decisions, crushes,
peer pressure.. But what actually mattered was how I tackled them with immense
support of my loving and understanding parents.
Infact off late we do surf daily
newspapers and come across so many suicide cases by teenagers REASON- did not fair
well in exams, my girlfriend betrayed me, the list goes on and on with such
trivial issues.. Are these reasons to end ones life??..Is this all they
(teenagers) know about life.
Thanks to different organisations that have come up with counseling,
individual therapy, recreational therapy, coping skills and relaxation therapy and
spirituality to name a few.
The young blood which flows with full vigor in the veins of
these teenagers need to be directed and moulded in such a way that they ‘make
their life and not mar their life’.
So my chirpy bunch of teenagers we all know that adolescent age is a spiny web which you need to tackle skillfully. Take this straight from my heart -
cheat fear, break up with doubts and cling on tightly to faith and
self-confidence. Give it a try, it does work.
REMEMBER: THE HAPPINESS OF YOUR LIFE
DEPENDS UPON THE QUALITY OF YOUR THOUGHTS AND DEEDS!!!!
